Acoustic Alanis @ Myspace

I'm continued to be impressed by MySpace.com. Alanis Morisette has posted some tracks from her new Jagged Little Pill Acoustic album, including a version of "Hand in my Pocket" recorded from the Ellen Show.

Jagged Little Pill album was amazing when it came out. I worked at Finders Records at the time and couldn't believe how well it sold. And as any good employee working at a record store does, I shopped during my time off. I loved Alanis so much, bought everything possible, every import single, bootleg, poster that I could get my hands on. I even purchased a import boxed set of her singles from JLP (and I'm not even sure I've listened to much of the music).

I did have that problem... that it used to be more about the hunting and gathering of stuff than it being about the music. That is the reason that I have such an immense CD collection today. Since then, I've refined my acquisitions to more meaningful items (though I don't think it's really slowed the pace).

But as Alanis continued to put out albums, I slowly became more and more disinterested, but I never disliked her. Now she is releasing an acoustic version of on of my seminal albums. I have to say that I'm very excited to see what this whole album sounds like. With my increased appreciation for acoustic music, I'm excited to see what she can do with these songs, to see if they can withstand another decade.
