Akron's downtown rock scene is getting unplugged. The Lime Spider will shut its doors Saturday, Sept. 8. Since it opened six years ago, the Main Street club has been a magnet for area and national bands. And, of late, burglars. "The music scene in Akron just isn't as happening as it used to, and it's been killing business," says owner Danny Basone. "That's tough enough, but then we got robbed twice in the last three months." Basone was planning to reopen the club as a club-eatery for young professionals "who don't want to go to a meat market," he said. But a robbery Thursday made him reconsider the move.
