New Naomi Sommers Album on the Way!Naomi Sommers
has to be one of my top 5 favorite independent artists. Her last 2 solo albums
have had more rotation in my CD player and on my hard drive than any in recent
memory... And of course she's one cool chick! You can check out my previous post from when I saw her with Lisa
Bastoni as the Gray Sky Girls, and read about how they crashed at our place
after the show.
I've nearly played her previous 2 solo albums to death, so think I let out a little scream when I got this email from Naomi updating her fans on her new album... Hi folks, How are you this fifth of may? I'm sending you greetings from Nashville, Tennessee this morning; from a hotel room where my brother is practicing trumpet, warming up before our recording session later in which he'll add some of his distinctive musical sound to my new album. My news this month is that I've spent the last week in Nashville recording an album of my songs with some of the most accomplished and kind musicians I could hope for. Jim Rooney is a subtle but very thoughtful producer and I am thrilled by the group of musicians he put together and the way my songs came to new life when we played them live in the studio. David Ferguson, the engineer is also fantastic. I'm so excited, impressed and grateful right now that I can't put it very well into words. I'll try to write some stories and put them on my website. And I'll let you know when the album will be released, hopefully sometime in the next few months. The whole thing will have been recorded and mixed in just 10 days though! Best wishes to you, Naomi Sommers www.naomisommers.com Posted: Tue - May 8, 2007 at 07:22 PM | |
