New Tegan & Sara!!It's been too long of a wait... but it's finally
over. Everyone's favorite twin lesbian Canadians, Tegan &
Sara, are coming back with their new album, The Con. Produced by
Christopher Walla of Death Cab (of all people). A little bit of a surprise, but
not disappointing. With the support their last album garnered, I can only
believe that the momentum they had will only increase with this
release...
Here's the deets from CMJ: Tegan And Sara Album 'Con'-Firmed 2007-03-28 16:20:20.477, Story by: Rachael Darmanin OK, musicians: Get ready to pull out some covers, because Tegan And Sara are back with their fifth album, The Con, out July 24 on Sactuary. Their last full-length, the critically acclaimed So Jelaous, featured the underground hit "Walking With The Ghost," whose covers by White Stripes and Ted Leo became Internet sensations. Will they be able to do it again? Maybe Death Cab For Cutie will cover them this time around, as Christopher Walla co-produced The Con, which was cut in Portland, Oregon at his Alberta Court studio. And when not working on the 14-track album, the girls took to some new hobbies with Walla as well. "Recording with Chris was amazing," explains Sara Quin, one half of the pop duo. "The experience, artistically, was the most enjoyable of our career. And now, I'm an amazing Nintendo WII boxer." The girls used self-produced home recordings as the basis of the album before collaborating with Walla. Death Cab drummer Jason McGerr also makes an appearance on, as well as AFI's Hunter Burgan and the Rentals' Matt Sharp, both on bass. And while fans have been waiting for the duo's next step, it seems the girls haven't been all too patient themselves. "I'm just happy we're done," says Tegan Quin. "Almost everyone that lived in close proximity to us while we made this record has broken up or nearly broken up and last time I saw Chris he was mixing from under the board. That can't be a good sign." Tegan And Sara will test the new album with a series of intimate performances this summer, before a national theatre tour in October. Details on the shows are to be announced in the near future. Tracklist For The Con: 01. I Was Married 02. Relief Next To Me 03. The Con 04. Knife Going In 05. Are You Ten Years Ago 06.
