Oh, and Young Love

I forgot to mention another possibility for Sunday night. Young Love will be performing at the B-side Liquor Lounge (below the Grog Shop) on Sunday night... Though it's conceivable that I could make this show AFTER Guster, but I kind of doubt it. Who's Young Love you ask? Let me give you some background.

(from the Grog Shop website):
Singer|songwriter Dan Keyes is the brainchild behind the stylish dance sounds of Young Love. The slick combination of Keyes' earnest vocals, loose electric guitars, and glossy synthesizers is well-suited for fans of the Killers and Bloc Party. Prior to creating the new wave revival mix of Young Love, Keyes fronted the post-grunge band Recover. The Austin, TX quartet released three albums between 2001 and 2004; their final album This May Be the Year I Disappear was released by Universal. Around this time, Keyes was searching for a change, and a chance to move to New York City was exactly what he was looking for to make a fresh start. Young Love was born within months and a deal with Island Def Jam surfaced before the close of 2005.

I first heard of him from Brad Walsh, a former Oberlin'er turned NYC'er, who writes a blog that I read avidly. It kind of makes me feel like I'm still in the loop with what's cool...but I also think he's an amazing photographer and brilliant writer. Oh, and the brawn behind Junk Mag. Anyway, I digress. You can see Brad's posts on Young Love here.

You can also see an entry about Young Love here at the Arjan Writes blog.

Here's the video for Discotech (look for Brad):

Actually, the more I think about it, the more it looks like Young Love might be the winner...
