New Catie Curtis - Long Night Moon

I don't think I've properly shown the love I have for Catie Curtis on this blog... though I don't think this will be the entry, though her sweet and melodic voice and down-to-earth lyrics really does make her a diamond on the rough. I just got the email announcing her new album "Long Night Moon"!!!

You can check out a couple of the new tracks over at her MySpace page: http://www.myspace.com/catiecurtis

Here's the announcement:

Long Night Moon will be released on Compass Records on August 29th!!! Long Night Moon is produced by Lorne Entress and features harmony vocals by Mark Erelli, Mary Chapin Carpenter, Kris Delmhorst and Erin McKeown. By mid-August, you will be able to order the CD through http://www.catiecurtis.com. You can pre-order at http://www.compassrecords.com or amazon.com now if you don’t want to wait. I just got the first copy in my hands today, and it’s a beautiful package featuring a painting by Jeanette Staley http://www.jeanettestaley.com entitled “An Unfinished Life.” You can view the CD cover and hear "Find You Now" and "People Look Around" and at http://www.myspace.com/catiecurtis. You may be hearing it already on your public and community radio stations (it never hurts to call and request it). WERS in Boston has chosen LNM as its August album of the month, and other stations are playing various tracks in these weeks leading to the release of the CD.

August tour stops include New Hampshire, Maine, Massachusetts, and the Catskills (NY). Kevin Barry (guitarist in Mary Chapin Carpenter’s band) will accompany on New Hampshire dates. Mark Erelli joins me on August 18th and 19th. Guitarist Shelley Jennings will appear with me at the shows in Provincetown over Labor Day weekend. The tour picks up steam in October and will continue well into 2007. Most of the tour will be duo or solo shows except for one full-band show at the Somerville Theater on October 20th, featuring many of the players on the recording. It may be worth a plane ticket to come celebrate with us. You know, New England is beautiful that time of year. See http://www.catiecurtis.com for more info on tour dates.
I am taking a brief trip to New Orleans this month to shoot a video for the song “People Look Around.” I’ll let you know how you can view the video in a few weeks.

See you out there!
Catie
