Guster & Ray LaMontagne Tour!

I'm back... Kind of a rough couple weeks, finishing my Masters Project and such.

So the Guster / Andrew Bird show we saw at John Caroll was blah (bad venue & poor crowd), but glad to see I have another crack at Guster w/ Ray! Though once again, the venue will be blah - Tower City kinda sucks.

Alt-rockers Guster (tickets | music) will follow the June release of their long-awaited new album with a lengthy tour that will also feature singer/songwriter Ray Lamontagne (tickets | music).

The run, which is booked primarily at theaters and outdoor amphitheaters, gets underway in mid-July, and dates so far stretch until mid-August. More shows are expected, according to a message Guster posted at its website.

"We're finally getting a chance to play all the venues where we used to just open up for other people," reads the band's note. "We hope to see you there. We'll be closing each night with a full set following a full set by Ray LaMontagne, a singer-songwriter that we're huge fans of. The tour starts up in July and will go all the way to October."

Guster originally planned to drop a new album sometime last year, then pushed the tentative release back until early 2006. In February, the group tagged the disc with a June 13 street date, and has since pushed that back an additional week to June 20.

Titled "Ganging Up on the Sun," the forthcoming disc follows 2003's "Keep It Together," and features the cut "Manifest Destiny," which the band released last November exclusively via Apple's iTunes Music Store, and which can also be heard at Guster's MySpace.com webpage.

Lamontagne issued his debut set, "Trouble," in 2004. A concert EP titled "Live from Bonnaroo 2005," which captures his performance at last June's Bonnaroo Music Festival in Tennessee, followed last December.

LaMontagne was named Male Singer/Songwriter of the Year at last September's Boston Music Awards. The New Hampshire-born singer also took home Album of the Year and Song of the Year honors for "Trouble" and the album's title song.
