Bored This Week? Some Great Options...

These next couple weeks are going to be crazy, with the number of (worthy) artists coming to town.

Wednesday @ Beachland Tavern ($6 / 10pm)
Delaney & Brian Straw
I just saw a promotion for this show last night when I was there to see Hamell on Trial. Delaney was promoted as being from France which made me take note, because that's a long way to come and perform (and truthfully, I like the French). Sitting here today, I found Delaney's website and on it is an amazing MP3. You can listen below. I was then surprised to see that Brian Straw is the bartender that I see so regularly. As it turns out, he has a MySpace site, with some good stuff on it.

Delaney's "La Nuit On A Toujours Tout":

Thursday @ Beachland Ballroom ($14 / 8pm)
Josh Kelley & Jem
I would go see this show entirely for Jem. She's got this sexy, British, electro-folk-dance thing going for her. Her album has been out for a while now, and it's definitely worth checking out. You can hear her album on her website. You can also hear Josh Kelley's album on his website as well.

Jem's "They":

Friday @ Barking Spider Tavern (Free / 8:30pm)
Andy Dolson
I saw Andy earlier this year when he opened up for Fred Gillen Jr (you can read about it here). I missed most of his show, purposely not getting there any earlier than I had to, to see Fred. But what I caught of Andy's act was good, making me buy a couple of his CD's after the show. I'm excited to go back and see his entire set. The Cells are playing at 10:00, but I couldn't find any info on the web about them.

Saturday @ The Agora (Private Event - Sorry)
G. Love
This is a strange thing... Ever get the two packs of cigarettes for free from promoters at the bar? Then they start sending you all kinds of mailings etc.? I swear, Marlboro has to have the biggest marketing budget in the world. Beyond getting my free ashtray, free lighter, and free deck of cards, they are now throwing a 50th anniversary bash in every state in the U.S. The Ohio event is in Cleveland, at the Agora (just behind my house). They sent out RSVP's for free tickets and I got a couple. I am just flabbergasted that G. Love is going to be playing a private Marlboro show this Saturday. I cannot find any information about this event online... there is no real Marlboro website, G. Love's website mentions nothing about it, and the Agora shows it as a "Private Event"... (should I be worried)? :)

Now these are just shows that have popped up on my radar... I'm sure there are plenty more options in town if none of these wet your whistle.
