Grey's Anatomy of a Song

So I know this is a music blog, but with television promoting so much music, these lines can easily blur. Just look back at shows like Melrose Place, Beavis & Butthead, ER, the OC, etc... that have used their television medium to promote music. Last night I got to watch Sunday's episode of Grey's Anatomy. I think it is an amazing show, worthy of HBO water cooler "cool" factor. Every character is great, making me feel invested in their successes, failures, faults and emotions. I need to congratulate ABC on producing such a great product.

In addition to just the great overall production, the music this show brings in is always integral and complimentary to the story. Last season Tegan & Sara were a favorite of the show's producers, which instantly won my respect, but the show continues to highlight music that just feels right. I saw a promotion for the new Grey's Anatomy soundtrack and thought I would check it out.

It holds the likes of The Postal Service, Roisin Murphy, Tegan & Sara, Rilo Kiley, and Ben Lee, with a mix of other artists that I haven't heard of before, but who I'm excited to hear more from. Click on the image below to access this player.

Next week is a review of the Desperate Housewives soundtrack! (Just kidding... the only track worth discussing on that one is the Indigo Girls cover of Mrs. Robinson!) ;)
