Martika goes Oppera?!

One of my favorite services on the net is Pollstar.com. This was the first service that I actually paid for on the web, back when I swore I would never pay for anything (the web should be FREE!). Well, that's changed some since then, as services get better and as we get used to paying for things like this. Besides, it's only a measly $10/yr for all these services.

Anyway... One of the features that makes Pollstar worth it, is that they will send you e-mail alerts every time a new venue or artist on your list has a new date. I went through and put every venue in Cleveland and the surrounding areas, and I usually see the same venues over and over again with new dates for shows. Today I got a surprise and saw "Easystreet" listed. I immediately realized that it was Easystreet Cafe from my old college town, Bowling Green, OH. Hell, I had even forgotten that this venue was even recognized on Pollstar.

Now I have a soft spot in my heart for Easystreet Cafe. It's a great two-story restaurant / bar in "downtown" BG. They have a popular "Hall of Foam" club that I was excited to join when I turned of-age, and upon completion of the over 80 beers from around the world, I got my name on a plaque and beer specials for life! I'm almost embarrased to say that I regard that almost as highly as my degree from BGSU... but I guess I'm getting off the subject.

So I click to see who was going to be there, I was dying to know. I see a band named "Oppera" performing on Dec. 23rd. Huh... that's Christmas time and I'll be home around then. So I do some searching on that band, because there would be a good chance I could see them and get to take advantage of my Hall of Foam membership once again.

After sorting through a weird website experience (the talking animated woman was atrocious), low and behold I discover it's the regeneration of Martika (remember the song "Toy Soldiers")!! But this time she's rockin' with another guy. This is some shit you need to check out yourself. This cover can give you a glimpse of what to expect.

I'd consider going just for the how-fucking-bizarre factor.
