Sunday Night @ Can't Stop the BeatSo
I guess it's not really a concert review, but more a review of a night out.
Previously I talked about running across the Sunday night
party at the B-Side Liquor Lounge that played alot of cool
new music that i like. Well, this past Sunday was our day to try it
out.
The night was set. Sarah was coming over to catch up on some 6 Feet Under's and D cooked us a great dinner. We watched the most recent episode of 6 Feet Under (okay... how f*ckin' amazing) and headed off to the B-Side. I have been to the B-Side before... Mostly just trying it, out but found that the liquor was too expensive and it was kind-of a bore. This night I was glad to be proven wrong. We walked in, sat at the bar, and I ordered the special (Stella Artois for $3). Sarah lit up a cigarette and the bartender promptly lit it. I thought I would try the same trick and he was right there to light mine as well... hmm... impressive. Sitting there enjoying Sarah's company, we were ready to try the other special of the night, Sparks ($3). This stuff is weird. Kind of an orange, alcohol drink with caffeine, ginseng, taurine, and malaysian tree roots (j/k on that one). Eh, one was fine. At this point we were ready for the dance floor. The sounds of the Dandy Warhols, Interpol, Killers, Blur and many more lured us onto the dance floor. The place was not terribly busy, enough people to feel comfortable dancing, but also easy to find a place to sit. The two DJ's were behind the booth, smoking, drinking, dancing, singing every word of every song and having a great time. They took turns coming out on the dance floor. I have to say that I danced like I haven't in quite a while. Knowing the music well really helped me get my groove on in ways that I just can't get at the Grid. And the great thing about going with Sarah is that she knows the music better than I do. I could ask her who anyone was and she knew it! At this point in the night, i was wishing I had brought my camera. The people were terribly interesting (I did a bit older in the crowd) but it would have been great to accompany this entry with some images. Fortunately, you can see pics (many of them) from the Sunday prior here on their MySpace group. Sarah and I left in awe. Between D's dinner, 6 Feet Under, and the B-Side, Sunday was WONDERFUL. I think we're going to make that our new "church." Posted: Tue - August 2, 2005 at 12:02 PM | |
