Couple More Software Additions

So the software just keeps on coming... Have you ever heard of torrents? You can get a great definition here, if you haven't and your too uninclined to click, its essentially P2P sharing of files (music, etc.). Well, I downloaded the BitTorrent which is an OSX software client. Not sure what I was doing, I searched for my favorite artists to see what would come up (and to try and figure out what the hell these Torrent things were). Well through http://bt.etree.org/index.php I found two Dan Bern bootlegs and a Martha Wainwright bootleg, some Guster, and many more... I was stoked!!

Once they arrived to my desktop, I saw the files ended with "FLAC" and damned if I knew what that was... Turns out it's an encoding scheme, similar to MP3, WAV, AIFF, etc. A more robust description here. At this point, I was a bit frustrated trying to figure out how to listen to my new jems. I quickly found a program called FLACer . This is a free encoding/deconing software that turns FLAC files in WAV. These are then playable in iTunes and can quickly be converted to MP3's!

Suddenly this 100GB HD isn't looking so big anymore.
