Ticket Buying BonanzaYesterday
I swung by The Agora box office to pick up some tickets,
avoiding the nasty Ticketmaster charges. Luckily it is right around the corner
from my house, which is very convenient. While I have seen the likes of Travis,
Liz Phair, Indigo Girls and the Faint at the Agora, there has been a dearth of
good shows there. This is terribly disappointing, being that it is so close to
me.
But times they are a changin'. Yesterday I walked in to buy tickets for: The Faint / Bright Eyes Monday, May 16, 2005 $23.50 I have seen the Faint there before and it was one of the best shows I've ever seen. I tried seeing them last time they were here at the Beachland and it was sold out. I imagine it will sell out here at the Agora as well, so don't wait for tickets. I've never seen Bright Eyes, but I'm impressed with his release of two albums simultaneously (one folkish and one electronic), and VERY impressed with a guest appearance of Emmylou Harris on his album. Garbage Tuesday, May 10th, 2005 $31.00 What can I say... I used to like them! Not sure what the new album sounds like, or if I'll even like it. This is one of those purchases that I know will sell out, and being that it's so close to home... why not? UPDATE: You can download the whole Garbage album (MP3) here! This was the extent of my intentional purchases, but arriving there and not being able to buy tickets right away, I hung with some of the employees and got to talk music for a bit. After that conversation, I decided to get tickets for the Bravery show as well The Bravery & Ash Tuesday, April 12th, 2005 $13.00 I originally intended to see them, but after hearing the dig on the Bravery by the Killers, I questioned going. The Agora kids convinced me that seeing them in the small space at the Agora, and with Ash, that it was a do-not-miss show. The final show that I was considering was Ben Lee. At this point, I had already spent too much, so I didn't buy a ticket yet. The Agora kids said they didn't think it would sell out, so that'll be a show I walk to at the last minute. Ben Lee & Har Mar Superstar and Maria Taylor (of Azure Ray) Sunday, April 10th, 2005 $11.00 Ben sounds great, Har Mar is supposed to be hilarious, and hell, it's $11.00! You can check out a video of Ben here: rwsvideo.ram April is a crazy month with a lot of great shows. Check my calendar for upcoming shows at other venues! Posted: Sat - April 2, 2005 at 12:33 PM | |
