Cleveland Concert Updates / VHS or BETA, Damien Rice, Midlake, Arcade Fire, EarlimartVHS or BETA
will be coming to the Grog Shop on Sunday, September 2nd! They'll be touring on
their upcoming album "Bring on the
Comets."
From LiveDaily: VHS or Beta maps tour to launch 'Comets' Electronic-oriented indie-rockers VHS or Beta [ tickets ] have lined up an extensive headlining tour for late summer and early fall to support the release of their third album, "Bring on the Comets." The Kentucky natives will finish off the remaining dates of their current late-spring/early summer outing--which takes them Thursday night (7/12) to Murfreesboro, TN--before kicking off next run Aug. 28 in Boston. That trek will cover 28 cities, and run through late September. The full schedule is detailed below. "Bring on the Comets," set for release the same day as the Boston show, is the band's third album in a career that has seen the group evolve from creating straight-ahead indie-rock and pop to experimental electronic dancehall rhythms. "We didn't want to play to expectations based on what we've done in the past," said guitarist/vocalist Craig Pfunder in a posting on the band's MySpace page. "This was a chance for us to bring all of our musical tastes--from early on in our youth as well as our current environment--and incorporate them," Pfunder said of the new album, which was produced by Brandon Mason (David Bowie, Secret Machines). "So we do have a much more diverse offering, but one that paints a total picture that represents all of our musical passions in a cohesive way. Ultimately, the music will speak for itself." Irish Folkie, Damien Rice will be performing at Playhouse Square on Tuesday, September 11th. I can't say I liked his new album 9, as much as I did his previous "O" album, but seeing him at Playhouse Square would be quite the treat. This is the same night as Midlake at the Grog Shop. It's a bad week to be out of town... (Boston, baby!) So Arcade Fire isn't coming to Cleveland (yet), but they'll be performing in Columbus, OH at the LC Pavilion on Friday, October 5th. Finally, some really exciting news! Earlimart will be coming back to the Grog Shop!! They'll be coming back on Thursday, October 4th. Their new album, Mentor Tormentor, will be out the day before my birthday, August 21st. Here's my review from their last stop at the Grog on 5/5/05. Posted: Fri - July 13, 2007 at 10:15 AM | |
