Review...
This week's list . Watch all videos here. (PC Only). This week the interviewee was Kinnie Starr. She didn't end up with any videos on this episode, but she's worth listening to... talking about being Canadian, of native origin, bisexual, and a hip-hop artist. Rihanna - Shut Up and Drive This definitely isn't the jam that Umbrella is, but not as bad as some of the other stuff out there right now. She's definitely sexing up in this video, and adding a nice rock element. Worthy of being shown. Donnie - If I Were You I first heard of Donnie on the NewNowNext blog. I was excited to see a black male R&B artist being promoted on a gay website while being compared to Stevie Wonder. But in the interview Donnie does some random talking about the state of homosexuality, sounding elusive and negative. But he's performing at L.A. Pride. Not sure what that means, but I left the interview with a bad taste in my mouth. But the song's not bad. M.I.A. - Boyz This video premiered several months ago. After all the buzz over her last album, I had big hopes for this one. This single (or video) didn't do much for me... And avoid this video or her MySpace page if you have any problems with epilepsy. :) Fallout Boy - The Takeover, The Breakover I can't help but have a soft spot for the eyeliner-wearing Peter Wentz, though I won't go out and buy the album. This video addresses their being criticized for selling out, though I don't think it would really change any minds. I'll still share the video (more slim pickin's this week). It's almost worth the last 3 seconds where the dog wakes up on Peter's stomach. Muse - Supermassive Black Hole Who makes these videos?? I just can't image the pitch for making something like this... "Kind of nightmarish, with creepy full body suits." But they have one of the most well designed MySpace pages I've seen. Levi Kreis - We're Okay Okay, so the song is not as bad the second time around (the video is), but I still wouldn't recommend it. Rufus Wainwright - Rules & Regulations Worthy of a re-run. Of Montreal - Suffer Fashion I was hoping to see these guys at Pitchfork, but they're not playing until the end of the day on Sunday. :( So I'm not getting to excited about this song... but I'll still share you the video. Interpol - Heinrich Maneuver Repeat. Josh Zuckerman - Something Inside Another unfortunate repeat. Posted: Thu - July 12, 2007 at 07:23 AM | |
