LOGO's NewNowNext Review...

This week's list .

Justin Timberlake - LoveStoned / I Think She Knows Interlude

Wow, this album of his keeps turning out the hits. This isn't quite the great video that My Love was, but still worthy of the song, and worthy of watching.

Mark Ronson feat. Daniel Merriweather - Stop Me (domestic)

I've been hearing a lot about this Mark Ronson album, and who wouldn't with such a line-up of guest artists (Robbie Williams, Lilly Allen, Amy Winehouse, etc.). I'm not a huge fan of the album, or this song (even though it is a cover of a Smith's song). I also had to look up Daniel Merriweather, who turns out to be an R&B singer from Melbourne, Australia.

Levi Kreis - We're Okay

So it's another low-budget, mediocre gay song/video. I'm trying to be open to some of these artists who sing "gay" songs, but so many are disappointing. So is this.

Placebo - Running Up That Hill

The video jumped out at me more than the song did, and for good reason. Here's the NNN description:
British band Placebo does a somber take on this '80s song by Kate Bush. For the video, Placebo compiled movies of fans singing the song themselves.

Also, kudos to them for taking a stand.

Menomena - Rotten Hell

I started checking these guys out a couple weeks ago because I'll be seeing them at the Pitchfork Music Festival... Then this video got posted at Stereogum with the perfect description: "300 with food and kids instead of pecs and quads."

Modest Mouse - We've Got Everything

A repeat from last week.

Katastrophe - The Life

Another repeat. This one I liked enough to watch again.

Melange - Gay Bash

A nice surprise. A solid rap track with a decent video... Love rap with a good message.

Kennedy - Your Mama

A video that shouldn't have been repeated. :)

Zac Efron - Ladie's Choice

I was a little excited to see this video after all the swooning I hear over Zac and his role in High School Musical. So my DVR cut out before playing this video, so I found it on YouTube. I don't get the whole 50's dance thing.. then again I haven't seen High School Musical or any of that. I guess I just don't understand these kids now-a-days.
