NewNowNext (6/3/07)

This begins a new series that I've been wanting to do for a while... One of my (only?) favorite music shows on television is LOGO's NewNowNext. If you don't watch it, you should. (I'm a huge fan of the NewNowNext blog as well, so make sure to throw it in your RSS readers.) It's a music program that has videos from all genres of music, but distilled for a dare-I-say gay crowd. Then there are interviews with gay artists in between videos. Well executed.

If you miss an episode, want a review, or just like my commentary :) then you're in the right spot.

This weeks Episode List. You can also watch all the videos here as well (PC only... c'mon LOGO!).

Amy Winehouse - Rehab
I'm sure you've already heard all about Amy. It's a great video and decent song... Can't believe the how different she looks all "made up" on video than on the candid photos on Perez. She's got this dramatic presence that translates to strange in real life.

Patrick Wolf - Accidents & Emergency
I've seen his name around and I really liked the song and the video. A deep rich voice on a eclectic, flamboyant guy. Worth checking out.

Guy B - Within Me
So not ALL the videos are good... This one sucked. Some hot guy singing a horrible song. Gives "gay music" a bad name. :)

Eve - Tambourine
It's Eve... not bad if you dig 'er.

Justice - D.A.N.C.E.
Great upbeat song... It'll definitely make your summer mix playlist. I highly recommend watching this video too.

Adam Barta - I Wanna Hold You
Another ultra-gay video. Well, I guess you could call it "bi" because he's with a girl and a guy in the video... I'd dance to it (if intoxicated).

The Cinematics - Keep Forgetting
I downloaded this album because these guys came to Cleveland to open for The Bravery (which I missed this time around). Not a big fan of the album, but I'd highly recommend checking out The Trouble Is:

Chris Garneau - Relief
It's videos / artists like this that make me love NewNowNext. Look below and you'll see me gushing about his recent show at the Beachland. A phenomenal artist with a video worth re-posting:

Jarvis Cocker - Don't Let Him Waste Your Time
Very fun video. He definitely reminds me of a current day Elvis Costello, but a little more light-hearted.

Kevin Cahoon - Fashionista
Um... While this video shows a skinny gay guy (Kevin) singing and dancing all over NYC, the song can't help but take me back to the 80's hair metal days... Not a horrible thing.
