Patty Griffin (4/16/07)



This show took me a little while to write about... probably because I hate to actually write something bad about a Patty Griffin show.

I've never seen Patty live, well at least where she was the only main performer (I've seen her perform with Emmylou Harris and others), and I was really excited for this chance. She rarely comes around, and wasn't coming to Cleveland this time, so I took 2 half-days off work to see her on a Monday night in Pittsburgh.

We got to they Byham Theatre a little too late to see the opener, but just in time for Patty. As for her performance... Not really memorable. In fact I can barely remember anything about it except that I was completely under-whelmed. Granted, I had rocketing hopes and expectations... but I thought they were founded.

I'm not giving up on her yet. I'm hoping this was just an off night for her. Maybe the problem was her band leader. I dunno... But Patty, we'll just pretend like this never happened... See you next time. Maybe come and perform solo.
