Roger Hoover & The Whiskeyhounds (10/28/05)

As I hope I've said before... I think Roger Hoover & The Whiskeyhounds are probably Cleveland's best kept secret musical secret. They belt out some of the best alt-country msuic I've heard - comparable to the likes of Steve Earle, Emmylou Harris, and Ryan Adams - but with a refreshing originality. Attending their local performances for me is a given, and this night was no different (even when they're the opening band).

DeVane and I had been to my friend Katrina's to install a light in her dining room, then back home to watch an episode of Firefly. We then made it to the Beachland Tavern for an event that rarely happens... we were only there to see the opening act. While they can do no wrong as a band - I do have to say that I prefer the duo of Roger Hoover & Freddie Hill to that of the whole band. It still ended up being a perfect night. We saw an amazing show (and had some great food) and we were home by like 10:30!

Here's one of my favorite tracks from Jukebox Manifesto - "Roger Hoover's Dream"

You can read about the last time I saw them here.
I've updated my concert calendar with their Cleveland shows.
... and get more music at their MySpace site.
