Straylight Run (4/6/05)

No, I didn't mess up the dates, I did see two shows in one night. After having such a great experience watching Angie during the early show at BST, I wasn't quite ready to go home. My friend Patrick had invited me to a show at the Grog Shop sponsored by Alternative Press Magazine. By the time I got there, the last band Straylight Run was about to come on, which was fine because they were the only ones that I had previously looked up online.

The place was busy but I still found a spot at the bar. The crowd was all young and good looking and *very* into the bands performing. I think part of the reason I enjoy the Grog Shop so much is to just observe the clientele. Straylight Run was okay. I like how they mixed up a rock band with both male and female vocals and the use of a piano. However, I would almost classify them as "drama pop" as some of the choruses were terribly angst. I would get a little critical about the performance, but then I would see groups of people singing every word at the top of their lungs... and isn't that what it's about after all?
